R&D Lab Colloid Mill Machine Manufacturer

Lodha International LLP is the leading manufacturer of the R&D lab colloid mill machine, an important tool for emulsification, dispersion, and particle size reduction in various industries. This wet-process colloid mill laboratory system offers precise control over the end process, making it ideal for achieving the desired consistency in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, suspension, and emulsion applications. The colloid mill machine is perfect for reducing the size of solid particles in liquid suspensions or making droplets smaller in liquid-liquid suspensions. This is achieved by subjecting the process liquid to extremely high levels of hydraulic shear, resulting in stable suspensions and emulsions.

The R&D lab colloid mill machine works by introducing the product into the space between the rotor and stator via a hopper. As the product moves between the rotor and stator, it undergoes shearing, cutting, and rubbing at high rates, moving towards the discharge area. The finished product is continuously expelled from the mill through a drain pipe, with the option to recycle it via a three-way cock and re-circulating pipe assembly if needed. The colloid mill is widely used for superfine grinding, homogenising, emulsifying, dispersing, mixing, and extracting liquids, ointments, and highly viscous materials. As a leading colloid mill machine manufacturer, Lodha International LLP provides reliable and efficient solutions for R&D labs, meeting the needs of various industries.

Salient Features of R&D Lab Colloid Mill Machine:

  • The machine's parts that come into contact with the product are made of a high-quality stainless steel called SS 316 to confirm cleanliness and safety
  • To prevent contamination, the machine does not use castings in its construction
  • The motor shaft and rotor shaft are connected with a coupling for easy maintenance in the Horizontal Model
  • Three oil seals are placed between the motor and the processing chamber to stop liquid from entering the motor, which could cause damage
  • The rotor and stator have a modified design with semi concave teeth, which reduces the power needed and improves the performance of size reduction without harming the product
  • The bearing housing is designed to allow for fine adjustments of bearing clearances, preventing metal-to-metal contact between the rotor and stator, to smooth and consistent performance and a longer lifespan
  • The machine can be easily taken apart for cleaning purposes
  • It has a special design that allows for adjustment of the grinding gap using an exterior screw with a handle, even during operation
  • If needed, a flameproof motor and flameproof rotary switch can be provided at an additional cost

Process Operation of R&D Lab Colloid Mill Machine

The R&D Lab Colloid Mill Machine is used to reduce the particle size of a solid suspended in a liquid, or to reduce the droplet size of a liquid suspended in another liquid. The material to be processed is fed into the hopper and then moves down into the milling chamber. In the milling chamber, a rotor turns at high speed, creating a shearing action that breaks down the material. The gap between the rotor and the stator can be adjusted to control the fineness of the output.

As the material passes through the milling chamber, it is subjected to intense hydraulic shear, which breaks down the particles or droplets into smaller sizes. The processed material is then expelled through an outlet at the bottom of the machine. The Colloid Mill can handle a wide variety of products, including emulsions, suspensions, and solutions, making it capable for different applications in the lab. The operation is straightforward, with easy adjustments for different processing requirements and quick cleaning for efficient use.
